First impressions count. Are you prepared for your university interview?
It’s that time of year where many of you will have submitted your UCAS application form, or will be doing over the coming months. For some courses you’ll hear back from your chosen universities straight away, hopefully with an offer of a place, but for some you’ll need to attend an interview.
Although it might sound a little scary, interviews are often used as a way of inviting you to visit the campus – a way of you meeting the university and them meeting you. If you’re going to be studying at a university for 3 or more years you need to make sure that you’re a good match for each other, so it’s important that you make a great first impression and stand out from the crowd.
There are times when interviews take a more formal approach, but again try not to worry too much. Admissions staff are already interested in you as they’ve asked you to attend an interview, so just relax and be yourself.
There is lots of advice out there to help you prepare, so have a search online and you’ll find lots of useful hints and tips on how to conduct a successful interview. You can also view the UMASS interview tips section of our website and UCAS have put together some information on interviews and auditions, so take a look and start your preparations today.
